The Crater Regional Partnership Strategic Plan reflects a long range Regional approach to workforce development. The Skill Streams for Success Program represents a comprehensive integration of workforce training for area residents and the leveraging of funds and resources to provide a "stepped" process of job skill development in the Crater Region. The Crater Regional workforce development efforts support the Regional objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan and integrate the efforts of our Regional Workforce Investment Board.
The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission is a 31-member body created by the 1999 General Assembly. Its purpose is to make payments to farmers to compensate for the decline of tobacco quotas and to promote economic growth and development in tobacco-dependent communities.
As part of its Community Revitalization mission, the Commission provides educational and workforce development opportinities in the region by making some of this money available to fund scholarships and initiatives such as Skill Streams for Success.
The Community College Workforce Alliance is a cooperative partnership between John Tyler Community College and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. Dedicated to supporting economic development and providing world-class workforce training and services to both the public and private sectors, it is an entity that will provide business, industry and government in the region with a single source for workforce development.
The vision of the Alliance is to maximize the talents and resources of both institutions current workforce development centers in an effort to provide Richmond, Tri-cities and surrounding counties with a world-class regional workforce development organization.
